Many North Shore homes step down a slope, which means lower floors sit partly below grade against damp ground. Those levels are the wrong place for solid hardwood, and we have replaced plenty of buckled wood floors in Lynn Valley and the British Properties that prove it. We moisture-test lower-level slabs before recommending anything, then typically install luxury vinyl plank or tile there and reserve hardwood for the main and upper floors. Done this way, each level gets a floor suited to its conditions, and the finishes still read as one coherent home.
